Marinelife is a Charitable Limited Company established to co-ordinate and develop a growing portfolio of global research and monitoring projects. Our projects include the Biscay Dolphin Research Programme which has been researching the wildlife of Bay of Biscay, English Channel and approaches since 1995. A strong partnership with P&O Ferries means there is always a Wildlife Officer onboard to aid and inform passengers.

April 2009 saw the start of a new and exciting Marinelife project. The Channel Marine Mammal and Seabird Survey is part of the wider Interreg EU-funded CHARM III project through which Marinelife and 16 English and French research organisations are compiling data in order to digitally map marine biodiversity, the various different species of marine mammals, fish, birds, plankton, etc, in the western English Channel. Marinelife/Biscay Dolphin Research Programme has now set up a Blog so we can share with you our sightings and trip reports in more detail. We do hope you enjoy reading the blog. Our researchers and wildlife officers will be posting entries from trips on all our different routes so please do check back regularly for updates.

Our research routes include Brittany Ferries Plymouth-Roscoff, Poole-Santander, Stenaline's Fleetwood-Larne, DFDS' Rosyth-Zeebrugge and Norfolkline's Felixstowe-Vlaardingen, monthly survey reports are being posted on the Marinelife news page, these all contribute to the Atlantic Research Coalition's network of survey routes.

Other research currently includes supporting several PhD research projects, monitoring of coastal animal movements off Northumberland.

We have arranged a number of trips to watch Whales, Dolphins and other Marine Wildlife, in and around the Bay of Biscay as well as to other recognised marine life hotspots around the world including the Maldive Islands, Seychelles and Azores. Whale Watching with Blue Ocean Safaris...

Marinelife also has a strong core team of volunteer workers with professional marine/conservation backgrounds and recognised expertise in a number of relevant disciplines. These include cetacean ecology, cetacean identification, seal ecology, shark ecology, population ecology, marine mammal education and interpretation, ecological methodology, seabirds, wildlife illustration and public relations.
